Finchley Dog Walker Joins the APDW

As a professional dog walker, dedicated to all the animals in my care I have always striven to provide the very best services for all my clients. I am proud to announce that, alongside my professional qualifications, my membership to NARPSUK  I have now become a member of the Association of Professional Dog Walkers.

The organisation was founded in 2012 by a group of experienced and highly dedicated dog walkers who came together to form an association whose mission I am proud to say mirrors my own. Working together with the Kennel Club, the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames and the London Parks and Green Spaces Forum the APDW vows to set standards and a professional code of conduct to help promote responsible dog ownership and set the best possible example to the public of what dogs and dog walking are all about.

The APDW’s code of conduct and the code of ethics reflect my own in the care and responsibilities I feel towards my clients and their dogs. And for this reason I am so glad to be associated with such a caring and socially responsible association. Professionalism at all times

In my book, any organisation worth joining must have a strict set of criteria. What I mean is – a dog walker must demonstrate a high level of professionalism and dedication in order to become a member. Basically what this involves is:

  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • Must have a minimum of £1 million liability insurance.
  • Must agree to uphold the APDW Code of Conduct and Ethics.
  • Must provide an up to date photograph and references for ID and security purposes.
  • Anyone convicted of inhumane acts towards animals, or has given false information about themselves, cannot join the association. (I feel particularly strongly about this one as I wouldn’t want to be part of any association which allowed in individuals like that.)

Good for the Community

The APDW is strictly a non-profit making organisation. Their ethos is to promote good community relations between dogs, dog walkers and the wider public. One of the ways in which they do this is by ploughing much of the money they receive from membership fees back into things like sponsored dog waste bins, waste bags and other dog related projects. As a responsible Finchley dog walker I am passionate about keeping our environment and surroundings clean and clear of dog waste. The Association is also very committed to raising awareness of responsible community park use as well as legislation covering dog walking, among other things.

Even More Assurance for my Clients

As I always say, my utmost concern is that my customers are fully aware of how committed I am to giving them the very best service; that I care for and look after their dogs just as I do my own. I’m sure that my membership of the APDW will reassure even further.
