Lost Pet Procedure
Owned and operated by Derek Chambers (trading as Finchley Dog Walker, also known as Del)

At Finchley Dog Walker, the safety of your pets is our top priority. In the unlikely event that a dog or cat goes missing while in our care, we follow a strict procedure to act quickly and responsibly.

1. Immediate Action

  • Search the area where the pet was last seen.
  • Use recall cues, treats, or familiar toys to encourage your dog to return.
  • Keep other pets in our care safe and secure.

2. Contacting the Owner

  • Contact you immediately by phone.
  • If you are unavailable, call your nominated emergency contact.

3. Wider Action

  • If not located quickly, notify local vets, the local dog warden, and (for dogs) check microchip databases.
  • Where appropriate, alert local networks and pet-finding groups.
  • Social media appeals or posters will only be used with your consent.

4. Responsibility on Site

  • Remain in the area to continue searching until you or your representative arrives, or until otherwise agreed.
  • For cats, also check access points to your home and neighbouring gardens.

5. Prevention

  • All dogs are walked on secure, well-fitting collars or harnesses (no choke chains, prong collars, or shock collars are allowed).
  • Collars, harnesses, and leads are checked before every walk.
  • Off-lead exercise is only allowed with your signed consent and only in safe, enclosed spaces.

This Lost Pet Procedure is in conjunction with our Terms & Conditions and Policies & Standards.
