They say that time flies when you’re having fun, and that’s certainly the case for me and my business, Finchley Dog Walker, celebrating four years of walking dogs in North London this year.
That’s right – 4 years of walking all these fantastic dogs in and around Finchley, meeting new people and taking away the anxiety of this aspect of dog owning by helping them with dog walking and caring for their beloved doggy friends. I genuinely love my job – who wouldn’t?
As a dog lover myself, and having the opportunity to get out and about with dogs all day long, to make sure they are stimulated, socialised and returned home tired and content is about as fulfilling as it gets. My belief is that every dog, from the bounciest Labrador to the grumpiest Cavalier King Charles needs exercise, and the challenge of making sure each dog in my care is receiving the right attention is one of the things I thrive on.
Faithful friends make “working” easier
Of course, the dogs themselves make my job incredibly rewarding, and I’ve met some wonderful dogs through this business, each with their own character and personality. Building my relationship with each one as we go on our walks each day, discovering that one loves swimming while another prefers to play endless games of catch, is all part of the fun.
My job also gives me the opportunity to explore different locations with the dogs. We walk from each dog’s home whatever the weather, which gives the dogs important lead time, and can go to various locations for the fun and games that we get up to. With a variety of beautiful parks, woods and open spaces on the doorstep (or at least a short dog walk away) there’s plenty of opportunity to give all the dogs in my care the exercise and interest they need.
And let’s not forget the owners!
Over the last 4 years it’s also been a privilege to meet the many lovely dog owners who entrust their dogs to me and I’ve been incredibly grateful for the support I’ve had from so many of my customers – those of you who for one reason or another have allowed me to care for your dogs, and who have recommended me to your friends and colleagues – it’s been a hugely important aspect of the business.
Please join me in saying ‘Happy 4th Birthday’ to Finchley Dog Walker, and here’s to the next four years!
