Insurance
Professional insurance for my pet-care services
Choosing someone to walk your dog, care for your pets or stay in your home involves trust.
I maintain specialist pet-business insurance appropriate to the dog walking, pet sitting and related pet-care services I provide.
My cover is subject to the insurer’s current terms, limits, conditions and exclusions.
Evidence of my current insurance cover is available to clients and prospective clients on request.
What my insurance supports
My insurance is intended to support the professional pet-care services I provide, including agreed services such as:
- one-to-one dog walking
- cat sitting and feeding visits
- pet sitting
- house sitting
- puppy visits
- care for rabbits, guinea pigs and other agreed small pets
- agreed handling of clients’ keys and property access
A service is only included where I have agreed to provide it and confirmed the booking.
Insurance does not replace careful planning, appropriate handling, accurate information or sensible risk management. Your pet’s individual needs, my competence and the conditions of my insurance will always be considered before I accept unusual or more complicated care arrangements.
Evidence of current cover
I do not publish my full policy number or complete insurance schedule on this website.
This helps protect private policy information and avoids leaving an outdated certificate online after a policy is renewed or changed.
Please contact me if you would like to see evidence of my current cover before confirming a booking.
Your own pet and household insurance
My business insurance does not replace your pet insurance, household insurance or other personal cover.
You remain responsible for checking whether your own policies allow arrangements such as:
- a dog walker entering your home
- another person holding your keys
- a pet sitter staying overnight
- agreed off-lead exercise
- unusual medication or care arrangements
- other people entering the property during a house sit
Your insurer may require you to tell them when someone will be entering or staying in your home.
Please ask your insurer directly if you are unsure.
Clear information helps keep everyone protected
You must give me complete and accurate information about your pet, home and booking.
This includes relevant information about:
- health and medication
- behaviour and bite history
- nervousness, reactivity or escape risk
- walking equipment
- access arrangements
- alarms, cameras and keys
- other people entering the property
- hazards within the home or garden
Please tell me if anything changes after a booking has been agreed.
