Looking for solo dog walks in Finchley? You’re not alone. Whether your dog is nervous, reactive, recovering from surgery, or prefers their own space, a one-to-one walk can make all the difference.
Below, I’ve addressed the most frequently asked questions about my solo walks. If you’re looking for peace of mind, personal care, and a walk that puts your dog first, you’re in the right place.
What is a solo dog walk?
A solo walk is just me and your dog. No packs. No distractions. No car rides to the woods. Just a calm, local walk tailored to your dog’s pace, needs and personality.
Why do you only offer solo walks?
Because not all dogs enjoy group walks. Some need space. Some get overwhelmed. Others might have health or behavioural needs that make groups stressful.
I’ve worked with:
- Rescues are still adjusting to the world
- Dogs who don’t like other dogs
- Seniors who walk slowly
- Pups in recovery
I understand the awkward, anxious, misunderstood dogs. I’ve lived with them, walked with them, and trained to support them.
What makes your solo walks different?
I specialise in solo, on-lead, enrichment-based walks around your local area. Your dog sets the pace. We sniff, explore, build confidence and connection.
You get a fully insured, DBS-checked walker with:
- K9 First Aid training
- Canine body language training
- TTouch understanding
- Reactive Rascals certification
- Years of experience with rescues
This isn’t just a job. It’s my life. I’ve invested hundreds in learning how to help dogs feel safe and understood. And that means your dog gets more than a walk. They get support.
Why do your solo walks cost more than some others?
You might have seen solo walks advertised for £12. So why do I charge more?
Simple. Because you’re not just paying for a walk.
You’re paying for:
- My time, skill and experience
- Ongoing training to stay updated
- A proper one-to-one service
- Detailed updates and communication
- Emergency preparedness (including K9 First Aid)
When a dog has complex needs, the right support matters. I take the time to understand your dog. I adapt every walk to suit them. That level of care takes time, thought and training.
If you’ve ever worried about handing your dog to a stranger, I get it. That’s why I take the time to build trust with you and your dog.
Where do you walk?
All walks happen in your local area. I don’t use a van or travel miles. Your dog stays in familiar streets, smells and sights.
This reduces stress, builds confidence, and supports dogs who don’t travel well or are uncomfortable in unfamiliar places.
How long are the walks?
Walks last around 45 to 60 minutes, depending on your dog’s needs and energy levels. Some dogs do better with shorter walks and more extended periods of sniffing. Others enjoy a steady pace.
I don’t clock-watch. If your dog needs five minutes to decompress before we even start, that’s what we do.
Do you offer trial walks?
Yes. I always offer an initial meet-and-greet. We’ll chat, walk together, and see how your dog responds. No pressure. Just a chance to make sure we’re a good fit.
Some dogs need a slower introduction. I’ll always follow their lead and move at their pace.
What kind of dogs do you walk?
I specialise in dogs who need that little bit more: I follow best practice in line with RSPCA behaviour guidelines, prioritising your dog’s comfort and well-being.
- Nervous rescues
- Reactive dogs
- Older dogs
- Those recovering from illness or injury
But I also walk younger dogs whose guardians prefer the safety and focus of solo walks.
If your dog is overwhelmed by group settings, reactive on the lead, or simply happier with one-on-one time, I’m here for them.
What’s included in a solo dog walk?
Each walk includes:
- Pick up and drop off on foot
- One-to-one attention the whole time
- Sniffing, exploring, enrichment and reassurance
- Fresh water is offered throughout
- Towelling off if needed
- A short update sent after the walk
No group juggling. No waiting in the rain while others finish their walk. Just a calm, predictable routine.
Do you walk dogs in all weather?
Almost. I walk in rain, wind and cold. But I follow a clear extreme weather policy for safety. On very warm days (over 25°C), walks are shortened, moved to earlier times, or replaced with enrichment visits.
Your dog’s well-being always comes first.
How do you keep dogs safe?
I carry a first aid kit, water, and a phone. I always keep my dogs on a lead. I never walk more than one dog at a time.
I keep to quiet streets and avoid busy parks or group meet-ups. Your dog’s safety, comfort, and calm are my top priorities.
Can I book ad hoc walks?
Yes, depending on availability. I offer regular slots as well as occasional walks for dogs who are already settled into my routine.
Once we’ve built trust, it’s easier to step in when you need cover.
How do I get started?
Just get in touch. We’ll arrange a free meet-and-greet to discuss your dog’s needs, routines, and preferences.
No pressure. No hard sell. Just an honest conversation about what will work best for your dog.
