Small Animal Care in Finchley

Check Pet Care Availability in Finchley

Updated August 2026

Looking for dog walking, house sitting or pet visits?

Availability depends on the service you need, your postcode, the dates involved, and your pet’s needs.

I do not offer instant online booking because I need to make sure that:

  • I cover your location
  • I have enough travel time between existing clients
  • The service is appropriate for your pet
  • I can follow your pet’s routine properly
  • Any introductions or meet-and-greets can take place
  • The booking does not clash with existing confirmed care

The quickest way to check is to send me your postcode, the service you need and the relevant dates or regular days.

Regular dog-walking availability

Regular dog-walking spaces depend on more than whether an hour looks empty in a calendar.

Because I work locally on foot and do not collect dogs in a van, I need to consider:

  • Your postcode
  • The time you need
  • The distance from my previous and following clients
  • Whether your dog needs 30 or 60 minutes
  • Whether your preferred time is flexible
  • Your dog’s behaviour and handling needs
  • Whether more than one introductory meeting is required

Please include your preferred days and times when you enquire.

If your timing is flexible, tell me. A nearby alternative time may be easier to accommodate than the exact time originally requested.

House-sitting availability

House-sitting dates can fill well in advance, particularly around:

  • School holidays
  • Bank holidays
  • Easter
  • Summer
  • Christmas and New Year
  • Popular travel weekends

Please contact me as soon as you know your likely dates.

An enquiry does not reserve the dates automatically. A house-sitting booking is only confirmed after:

  • We have discussed your pets and their routine
  • I have confirmed that I can provide the required care
  • The necessary meet-and-greet has taken place
  • Any required forms and information have been completed
  • The agreed reservation payment has been received
  • I have confirmed the booking in writing

Please do not book travel solely because a date appears to be available before I have confirmed the pet-care arrangement.

Cat-sitting and pet-visit availability

Cat-sitting, puppy visits and small-animal visits depend on:

  • Your postcode
  • The dates involved
  • The number of daily visits
  • The required visit times
  • The length and complexity of the care routine
  • Medication requirements
  • My existing local route

Two apparently similar bookings may require very different amounts of time.

One cat may need feeding, fresh water and a litter-tray clean. Another household may have several cats, multiple litter trays, medication and a more involved feeding routine.

Please provide enough information for me to judge whether the visits can be completed properly.

Do you accept last-minute bookings?

Sometimes, but last-minute availability cannot be guaranteed.

A new booking may still require:

  • An initial discussion
  • A meet-and-greet
  • Safe key or access arrangements
  • Written care instructions
  • Veterinary information
  • Emergency contact details
  • Medication instructions
  • Time to meet a nervous pet

Please contact me even if your dates are close. I will tell you honestly whether I can provide safe and reliable care.

I will not accept a booking simply because it is urgent if there is not enough time to prepare properly.

What to include in your first message

Please send:

  • Your name
  • Your postcode
  • The service you need
  • The dates or regular days required
  • Preferred times, where relevant
  • The type and number of pets
  • A little about their usual routine
  • Any medication requirements
  • Any nervousness, reactivity or handling concerns
  • Whether your timing is flexible

For a dog-walking enquiry, please also include:

  • Your dog’s age and breed or type
  • Whether they are comfortable around other dogs
  • How they normally walk on the lead
  • Any known triggers
  • Whether you need 30 or 60 minutes

For holiday care, please explain whether you need:

  • Daytime visits
  • Two visits each day
  • Evening sitting
  • Overnight house sitting
  • Continuous care where a pet cannot be left alone

Providing this information helps me give you a useful answer rather than replying with a long list of additional questions.

What happens after you enquire?

1. I check the service and location

I will confirm whether I cover your postcode and whether the service appears suitable.

2. We discuss your pet

I may ask about their routine, health, behaviour, medication and previous care arrangements.

3. We arrange a meet-and-greet

Most ongoing dog walking, house sitting and new pet-care arrangements require an appropriate introductory meeting.

Some nervous or rescue pets may need more than one introduction.

4. I confirm whether I can help

A meet-and-greet is an opportunity for both of us to decide whether the arrangement is suitable.

I will be honest if:

  • I do not cover the location
  • I cannot meet the required timing
  • The care falls outside my experience
  • I do not believe I can handle the pet safely
  • A different type of care would be more appropriate

5. The booking is confirmed

A booking is not confirmed until I have clearly accepted it and any required forms, information and payment arrangements have been completed.

I mainly provide dog walking and pet care across:

  • North Finchley
  • Finchley Central
  • East Finchley
  • Muswell Hill
  • Selected nearby parts of North London

The exact area depends on the service.

Dog walking is kept particularly local because walks begin and end at the client’s home. House sitting and some home-based pet-care services may be available across a slightly wider area.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a live booking page?

No.

This page explains how to check availability. Dates and walking spaces are not confirmed until I have discussed your requirements and accepted the booking.

Why do you not use an online booking calendar?

An empty-looking time or date does not necessarily mean I can accept a booking.

I must consider travel time, existing clients, your location, your pet’s needs and whether suitable introductions can be completed.

Can I reserve dates while I decide?

Dates are not normally held indefinitely without confirmation.

For house sitting, the booking is only secured once the agreed booking process and reservation payment have been completed.

How far ahead should I book house sitting?

As early as reasonably possible.

School holidays, bank holidays, summer and Christmas can fill well in advance.

Can I book regular weekly dog walks?

Possibly.

Regular spaces are limited and depend heavily on your postcode, preferred time and distance from existing clients.

Do you have weekend availability?

Weekend availability is limited and varies by service.

Please send the dates, times and type of care required.

Can I book care at short notice?

Sometimes.

However, there must still be enough time to discuss your pet, arrange safe access and complete any necessary introduction.

Does an enquiry guarantee a booking?

No.

I must first confirm that I cover the location, have availability and can provide the care safely and reliably.

Can you tell me whether you cover my road?

Send me your postcode.

Coverage can differ by service because dog walking is kept more local than some house-sitting arrangements.

What is the quickest way to contact you?

WhatsApp is normally quickest.

Please include your postcode, the service you need, the dates or regular days and a short description of your pet.
