The busy holiday periods, beginning around Easter time and onto the summer holiday dates, always see a huge increase in demand for pet sitters, dog walking, cat feeding, and drop-in visits to care for your dogs, cats and other small animals. So when do you decide is the best time to make your booking to ensure you have responsible cover? It’s sooner than you think!
Crucial Booking Time for holiday care for your pets
Ideally, the best time to make a booking for your pet sitting or drop-in visits to your home to feed your cat or any other animals is at a minimum of 8-10 weeks before your travel date. This allows me time to meet your pet to ensure that we are going to be a good fit for each other before you leave for your vacation. Finchley Dog Walker’s holiday periods are often very busy, and I get booked up even months in advance by returning clients, so my advice would be to reserve your dates well in advance.
A good alternative to boarding your pet – have them looked after at home.
If your pet lives at home with you, in a family environment, uprooting them and taking them to board in a small, isolated, restricted space that is typical to many kennels may be stressful for your pet and upsetting for you. For this reason, many animal owners are now looking for pet care that is home-based – either in the home of the Pet Sitter or in your own home, with your dog or cat remaining in their relaxed, familiar surroundings, with human interaction. There are, of course, some state of the art, modern boarding facilities for both dogs and cats staying away from home, but nothing beats home comforts and the familiarity of their surroundings.
Your home will be minded too – for no extra charge!
If you have more than one pet at home, it probably makes more sense for the pet sitter to stay in your house and care for them while you are on holiday. This great alternative to a kennel or cattery boarding is usually a cheaper option, and your pet is much happier in their own home. Finchley Dog Walker and Pet Sitting services will watch your dog or cat, take your dog for walks, keep up on their training routine if required, and of course, be there for those loving cuddles and pats in your absence. Your home is taken care of too, and your pet sitter will, of course, becoming and going from your house, opening and closing curtains and putting on lights at night time.
Book a Dog Walker
Perhaps you want to leave your dog at home while you’re away if he’s content to be at home alone for the majority of the day. We can call your home twice a day to make sure he’s happy, to give him his daily exercise and feed him as required. This option probably works best if you’re only going to be away for a day or two. Remember, though, that emergencies and accidents can happen, be it a minor medical problem, an electrical failure, flood or fire, and you certainly wouldn’t want to leave your dog or cat with no one checking on them.
Finding the right pet sitter for your animals will allow you to relax and really make the most of your holiday. This can take time to initially discuss things over the telephone, to meet your pet sitter in person, and of course, to check their insurance details and references. Please don’t leave it too late to get in touch with Finchley Dog Walker and Pet Sitting Services.
